THE BUTTERFLY BALLOON

THE CONCEPT

The Butterflies balloon was the brain child of a private enthusiast.  They had always been fascinated with the elegance and beauty of butterflies.  Charles Markert was approached with a crude drawing on a napkin.

Charlie's Renderings

Once the idea was conveyed to Charles, he began to sketch out a layout of the balloon.  This concept was then approved and the process of acquiring the envelop had begun.

Painting on the balloon

The process of painting the balloon took nearly 6 months.  Step by step and section by section the balloon would begin to come alive with color.  Never knowing for sure how the finished product would look till the very first inflation of the balloon, careful consideration was take each time the envelope was moved on Charlies art board.

First View

When the project was complete the day would finally come when the balloon could be inflated and stood up.  Then and only then would the full scope and grandeur of the finished art be fully revealed.
